![]() Not only does it encourage forward thinking gameplay, where thinking two or three moves ahead can pay dividends but because even the slight misplacement makes a difference, the game has a really risk versus reward mechanic when it comes to playing with other people. In Tricky Towers, even the smallest of errors will have towers falling down in seconds. First of all, if players accidentally misplace a Tetromino in Tetris, then it isn’t always a big issue, and players will often be able to recover from it. Now this may make it sound like some sort of Tetris rip-off, but there is far more to than that. Platform: PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One (reviewed) Of course, there is a little more to it than that, but that’s the main crux of the game. Tetromino style blocks fall from the sky, and the main object of the game is to stack as many as you can on top of one another, without the tower losing balance and falling over. Tricky Towers is just fun and truly a solid game at the end of the day.Have you ever played Jenga? You know, that game where you have to remove blocks from a tall stack, without toppling the whole stack over? Well, Tricky Towers is a little bit like that but instead of removing blocks, you’re stacking them. We would have loved to see these cute characters have a reason for what they are doing but equally, a story mode isn’t really necessary for a game like this. Honestly, if we had to complain about anything it would be that Tricky Towers lacks a story mode. For $14.99, you’re getting over 50+ single player challenges and several modes for friends and family to enjoy together. Tricky Towers really doesn’t have any of that going against it. We here at Honey’s Anime usually don’t struggle to find issues with puzzle games, as most just tend to have some issue like repetitive gameplay or overly frustrating challenges. Needless to say, Tricky Towers has more going for it aesthetically than Tetris and that isn’t a bad thing by any means. Even the characters you play as make you just want to go “aww.” The background music helps to with some cute tunes that truly don’t get old despite being repeated quite often which surprised us here at Honey’s Anime. Everything-and we mean everything-in Tricky Towers is cute from the way the environments are to the skins that you can use for your Tetris pieces. These are usually the elements that the evil mage does to you in single players so it’s interesting when you have the ability to use those same powers against a friend who is just about to win.Īnother thing we adore about Tricky Towers is the cute graphics and art. Players can lob spells at each other to make pieces change shape and even alter the flow of the pieces. Here, players can go against each other in several different modes that mirror the single player and it becomes even more frantic than the single player experience. Tricky Towers might not have online multiplayer but it does contain local multiplayer for up to 4 players. It’s simple but tons of fun and only gets better when you play multiplayer. You can either do trials and pro trials or play endless mode to see how long you can last. With over 50+ challenges in the single player, you’ll find yourself being tested to figure out how to manipulate Tetris-like pieces so you can beat the challenge and move on to the next. This might seem overly simple but thanks to various elements such as physics and a mage who will alter your blocks in numerous ways, Tricky Towers can be quite…well tricky. Tricky Towers usually tasks players with stacking Tetris-like blocks to either make it to the top of a goal point or to stack a specific number of blocks without passing a line. It might seem confusing since it looks like Tetris but trust us, Tricky Towers is far from hard to understand. Tricky Towers is more akin to games like Crazy Construction where you’re trying to build a tower or accomplish other tasks. You won’t score points by making blocks disappear and there are times where reaching the top is actually an objective. Tricky Towers only has Tetris-like pieces, the game itself plays nothing like Tetris. ![]() Let us first make something clear in case you do mistake Tricky Towers for Tetris because of the look. Does that mean you should still be interested in buying Tricky Towers? Well, that’s what we plan on telling you in our review of Tricky Towers. While at first glance, you might mistake it for a clone of Tetris-the pieces look exactly like Tetris blocks-we here at Honey’s Anime can tell you Tricky Towers is far from Tetris. Though developer WeirdBeard decided to try to do the same and has created an interesting game called Tricky Towers. Who doesn’t love Tetris? Seriously, ever since Tetris released back in 1984, many developers have tried to mirror its success but none have really succeeded. ![]()
